AMPA receptors (AMPARs) are crucial for fast excitatory synaptic transmission in most memory systems. So far, I have made use of auditory fear conditioning to study how AMPAR expression and posttranslational modifications change at amygdala synapses at different time points after memory retrieval. I will now focus on the hippocampus and the molecular events underpinning the expression and maintenance of spatial memories. For my work I will use different behavioural tasks, i.e., the water maze, object location recognition, and conditioned place preference, in combination with various biochemical techniques. |
